I'm Back!

Hello all! (...4 of you..ha). Here are some mildly exciting updates from yours truly:

  • First of all I've been on summer vacation for a week now and am loving it!! (Why do I work again..?) My darling husband installed a much wanted hammock in the back yard for me, quite the task, seeing as how we only have one tree and I refuse to have one of those tacky hammock stands! No offense. One of the joys of the hammock, I've noticed, is how it seems to erase all feeling of guilt or laziness when Im laying in it, compared to the pressure to get something productive done I might be plagued with if I were laying on the couch or even sitting in the back yard in a lawn chair. It's magical.
  •   Next exciting thing is the new buddy! He almost made onto the "Lost and Founds" page...but we decided to keep him :) I found him near a freeway on-ramp, preparing to go to doggie heaven with cars zooming by. I pulled over, snatched him up and long story short we've had him for about 3 months now and named him Captain Jack Skipper. He and Pepper LOVE each other and play or nap all day together in the back. He's not Misto's biggest fan yet and loves to chase her around barking. Although, and I wish I had pictures, a few weeks ago he was loose and she was in the front yard, he started to chase her when all of a sudden she turned toward him, puffed up huge and was ready to attack. He put on the brakes and started to whimper as Misto took off toward him with determined eyes, she chased him all the way to the neighbor's yard! Hopefully soon he will learn she's the boss.

I know, his butt is showing-but I still like this pic!

  • Kitties! Three kitties have appeared next door! My elderly neighbor, Phylis, has been in the hospital/rehab home for months, so I help myself to her back yard to watch these new beebees! They were behind Phylis' house last week, but due to my frequent visits, and picking up two of them, the mom cat has relocated to the neighbor next to her, Chuck, and they are under his house. Luckily Chucklestein is also absent 99% of the time (he lives somewhere else now..?) so I now have to peek at them through a hole in the fence :( I hope we can capture and neuter/spay them and the mom!

precious!

Mom cat hates me

  • Garden News:

I CAN'T BELIEVE my peppers are growing!!! I totally
gave up on them a long time ago!

Zucchini, fennel, tomatoes & peppers

Hooray for watermelon!

Even my dahlias are doing well :)
  • Last and absolutely not least- James surprised me with tickets to see Alison Krauss in Santa Barbara next week!!!!!! Im thrilled and can't wait. She's one of my favs. If you don't listen to her, you really should.
