Lost and Founds

James and I often find stray dogs and while James is usually able to turn away- I am not. Not that he is a smidgen less compassionate than I am, probably more so, it's just that he has more "practice" with leaving them behind. He finds wandering doggies much more often, with his line of work being out in fields all day you see. So I decided to dedicate a new page to these little guys that he or I have found and successfully found new homes (like, amazingly loving and perfect homes) for.

Pepper is a very good host, sometimes having these canine friends stay over for several weeks at a time. He welcomes them excitedly and shares his dog house, his food and his toys. He also likes to pretend he hates Misto and chase her around barking along with his new pal. Misto hates this for obvious reasons. However,  Pepper is also glad when the temporary dog leaves. He makes it pretty obvious he wants to be thee only pup in our lives.

So we begin with the dog that came with Pepper, called Mama Dog:

Through Craigslist I found a lady in Lindsay who met us with her other little dog to make sure the two would get along. Eventually she decided Mama Dog was a good fit and took her home, it was sad, as always. This kind woman sent pictures and little email updates about her in the weeks following, she looked happy with a pink collar and we were told she had made her way into the bed. Hooray!

Miss Piggy

I found this girl running around Golden West when I was working there for a short time. I saw her running across the yard and called James to beg him to come pick her up. Through Craigslist I found this sweet woman who was looking for a full grown, female pug-bingo! We talked on the phone and I had the best feeling about her. She drove all the way from Fresno, with her kids, and greeted me at the door with a chocolate pie she had bought for me! Ha! She was instantly in love with this grunting thing and gladly took her home. She sent me a few email updates with pictures.

Feller
I found this little sweetie wandering around in front of a the movie theater, called him over to me and scooped him up! We bathed him and found he had a large growth on his bottom :( I was sure this would deter any would be adopters, and it did. After placing an ad on Craigslist, 2 or 3 people called or emailed, but were uninterested as soon as they found out about his growth. Lame. We got him neutered and kept him in a crate in our house (we were keeping him warm in Feburary by putting a heated rock into his house outside. every. night...yeah. got old quick.) I started to think we would end up keeping him, until a wonderful couple from the country contacted us about wanting him. I prepared myself for the same response of rejection as the others had, but they didn't care at at. When they showed up to meet him I knew instantly they were honest, loving people-the long denim skirt and tennis shoes, plus lime green Winnie-the-Pooh sweater on pentecostal wife was very comforting. He jumped into thier loving arms and they couldn't care less about his growth (which we had tested and was just a growth, no cancer.) They took him home and just like everyone else, sent email updates and pictures of him in the kitchen jumping up to recieve a piece of bacon. He has his own little bed in thier room and lots of open country space and other doggies to play with. I couldn't have been happier with his new family. :)
Pepper always loves having someone new to play with :)
